Few words spoken by Jesus have brought more comfort to anxious hearts than these. Spoken on the night before the cross, when betrayal was near and sorrow heavy, Jesus did not minimise what lay ahead. Instead, He anchored His disciples in hope. He told them that His departure was not abandonment. It was preparation. This is why I love Jesus. He prepares a place for me.

There are many ways Jesus cares for us. He teaches us, forgives us, guides us, heals us, comforts us, and strengthens us. Yet one aspect of His ministry often remains quietly in the background, even though it is profoundly sustaining. Jesus prays for us. Continually. Faithfully. Personally. Eternally. This is why I love Jesus. He prays for me always.

Death is the greatest enemy humanity has ever faced. It is final, unavoidable, universal, and deeply painful. It tears families apart and ends earthly chapters abruptly. Yet the Christian faith stands on a truth so powerful that it transforms our understanding of death entirely. Jesus Christ has conquered it. This is why I love Jesus. He gives me victory over death.

Life often feels heavy. Responsibilities accumulate. Expectations rise. Deadlines press in. Personal concerns stir quietly beneath the surface. Even blessings can feel weighty when our strength is stretched thin. In such moments, Jesus offers more than sympathy. He offers Himself. This is why I love Jesus. He carries what I cannot.

Storms come to every life. Some storms are visible. Others are hidden deep within. Storms of uncertainty, storms of pressure, storms of grief, storms of transition, storms of emotional strain, storms that arise without warning. Often, when I or those close to me are caught in such storms, I find myself praying for the peace that Scripture calls “beyond understanding.”

The world offers many wells that promise satisfaction. But these wells demand effort and still run dry quickly. They satisfy only for a moment. Jesus offers something entirely different. He does not merely relieve thirst. He places a living spring within the believer. A source that carries its own life and rises from within even when circumstances are difficult. A spring that does not depend on what is happening around me, but on who is living within me.

One of the most liberating discoveries in knowing Jesus has been the lightness of spirit that comes from forgiven sin. Like a caged bird released, the soul is set free to rise, to soar on wings like eagles. We long for freedom from fear, from guilt, from past wounds, from destructive habits, and from the quiet pressures that weigh us down. Yet many freedoms the world offers prove temporary or deceptive. Real freedom comes from one place alone.

All of us face crossroads in life. I think back to nearly fifty five years ago, when as a young teenager in my first year of secondary school, I surrendered my life to Jesus. I remember the quiet assurance that this decision would shape everything. Since then, life has unfolded across continents, callings, family, ministry, and work. None of it has been random. Even when unsure or obstinate, I can trace the Shepherd’s hand, directing my path with wisdom, love, and purpose.

Every human life includes moments of deep hurt. Disappointment, betrayal, grief, loss, and shattered hopes are part of the human story. We all know what it feels like to carry wounds that are not visible on the outside. The world offers many ways of numbing pain, but true healing comes from only one place. This is why I love Jesus.

As a young teenager coming to faith, I hardly grasped how much I needed forgiveness. With the years, I have seen my sin more clearly and Christ’s mercy more deeply. Sin still burdens and blinds, yet His grace restores. At the center of the Christian faith stands a Savior who forgives completely and welcomes the undeserving.
