📖 “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Hebrews 13:8
We live in a world marked by change. Seasons shift, responsibilities evolve, relationships move, circumstances rise and fall. Even our own hearts fluctuate with emotion, energy, and perspective. Yet in the midst of all this, Scripture gives us a truth that is both steadying and breathtaking. Jesus Christ never changes. His character is constant. His promises stand firm. His love remains unshaken.
This is why I love Jesus.
❤️ He never changes.
1️⃣ I love Jesus because His unchanging nature anchors my life.
Everything around us shifts, but Jesus remains the same. The Christ who walked the shores of Galilee, who healed the sick, forgave sinners, calmed storms, and welcomed children, is the same Christ who walks with me today. His heart has not changed. His compassion has not weakened. His truth has not faded.
C. S. Lewis wrote that God is the “supreme reality,” the one fact that remains immovable when everything else feels uncertain. In a world where values shift and opinions fluctuate, the constancy of Jesus gives me a foundation that cannot be shaken.
There have been seasons when the ground around me shifted through leadership changes, ministry transitions, and personal uncertainty. Yet Jesus never altered. His voice remained familiar. His presence remained faithful. His love remained steady.
2️⃣ I love Jesus because His promises remain true across every season.
Human promises often falter under pressure or fading memory. But the promises of Christ stand firm regardless of circumstance. What He said in Scripture, He means today. What He promised then, He fulfills now.
When He says, “I am with you,” it remains true in youth and in old age.
When He says, “My peace I give you,” it remains true in calm and in chaos.
When He says, “I will come back for you,” it remains true in every generation.
Thomas à Kempis, The Imitation of Christ, reminds us that human loyalties shift, but Christ remains constant and faithful. His promises do not expire. They do not weaken with time. They are as strong today as when He first spoke them.
I love Jesus because His promises give me unchanging hope.
3️⃣ I love Jesus because His character is consistent even when mine is not.
I have experienced seasons of strong faith and seasons when my strength felt low. Times of deep assurance and times when questions lingered. Moments of joy and moments of quiet strain. Yet Jesus remained the same toward me in all of it.
His patience did not diminish when I struggled.
His mercy did not lessen when I faltered.
His love did not cool when I felt weary.
As Philip Yancey observed, grace means that God’s love does not rise and fall with my behaviour. It is rooted in His nature, not mine. Jesus is constant even when I am inconsistent, steady even when I am unsettled.
I love Jesus because His character holds me when my own strength shifts.
4️⃣ I love Jesus because His faithfulness has carried me through the years.
When I look back on my journey from young believer to today, the one consistent theme is divine faithfulness. God has not always given me what I expected, but He has always given me what I needed. His guidance, provision, and presence have been evident in every chapter.
There were seasons of pressure, demanding responsibility, and unanswered prayer. Yet He sustained me, provided at the right time, and strengthened my faith in ways I could not have planned. Through it all, He never changed.
Lamentations declares, “Great is Your faithfulness,” and its truth becomes clearer as the years accumulate.
I love Jesus because His faithfulness stretches across my entire life.
5️⃣ I love Jesus because His unchanging nature gives hope for the future.
The Jesus who never changes is not only my past assurance and present comfort. He is my future confidence. Because He remains the same, I can face tomorrow without fear. He will not surprise me with inconsistency. He will not abandon any promise. He will not shift His posture toward me.
A. W. Tozer once wrote that what comes into our mind when we think about God shapes everything else. When I think of Jesus as unchanging, it brings rest to my heart. I know that the One who has carried me will continue to carry me. The One who guided me in youth will guide me in older years. The One who kept me through transitions will keep me through every chapter that lies ahead.
I love Jesus because His eternal sameness gives me peace about what is to come.
