#11: He Forgives My Sin

Reading & Reflection

📖 “He forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases.” Psalm 103:3

As a young teenager coming to faith, I hardly grasped how much I needed forgiveness. With the years, I have seen my sin more clearly and Christ’s mercy more deeply. Sin still burdens and blinds, yet His grace restores. At the center of the Christian faith stands a Savior who forgives completely and welcomes the undeserving.

This is why I love Jesus.
❤️ He forgives my sin.

1️⃣ I love Jesus because His forgiveness is complete.
David says God forgives all our sins. Not some, not most, not the ones we confess easily, and not only the ones we consider minor. All sins.

Jesus never offers partial forgiveness. He does not leave certain failures hanging over us as reminders of what we once were. He removes our sins entirely. The psalmist declares,
“As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.”
East and west never meet. That is how far Christ removes our sin.

There have been seasons in my life and ministry when I have struggled with the weight of past mistakes, old regrets, or failures I could not easily forget. Yet the gospel speaks with a stronger voice. As the hymn rejoices, my sin, not in part but the whole, is nailed to the cross and I bear it no more. That glorious truth has lifted my burdens again and again. Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul.

I love Jesus because His forgiveness is total.

2️ I love Jesus because His forgiveness is personal.

Forgiveness is not an abstract idea. It is deeply relational. Jesus does not forgive us from a distance. He enters our story and meets us where we are.

In the Gospels, He forgave the paralytic, the tax collector, the adulterous woman, the thief on the cross, and many others. He looked them in the eye, spoke hope over them, and gave them new beginnings.

One of the most touching moments is His restoration of Peter. After Peter denied Him three times, Jesus did not shame him. He made breakfast for him, asked questions that restored him, and recommissioned him. That is forgiveness that heals.

In my own journey, I have known moments where I needed more than general assurance. I needed personal grace. Christ met me there. He did not condemn. He forgave and restored.

I love Jesus because His forgiveness is personal, gentle, and healing.

3️ I love Jesus because His forgiveness is costly.

Forgiveness comes freely to us, but it was not cheap for Him.

The cross was not symbolic. It was sacrificial. Jesus bore our sins, carried our judgement, and took our place. Isaiah says,
“He was pierced for our transgressions.”

Paul writes,
“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.”

Every act of divine forgiveness flows from the cross. Every moment of grace carries the cost of Calvary. Every pardon is written in His blood.

John Stott, in The Cross of Christ, teaches that forgiveness is never cheap, because someone must absorb the loss caused by another’s wrongdoing. At Calvary, Jesus bore that cost fully, opening the way for forgiveness that is free to us yet infinitely costly to Him.

I love Jesus because His forgiveness was purchased at the highest price.

4️ I love Jesus because His forgiveness transforms my life.

Forgiveness does not end with wiping the slate clean. It launches a new beginning.

When Jesus forgives, He restores dignity.

He transforms the heart in many ways:

• He renews identity.
• He breaks chains.
• He reshapes desires.
• He lifts burdens.
• He rewrites stories.
• He opens doors to growth, maturity, and service.

Throughout my life and ministry, I have walked with people who carried deep shame or guilt. Some believed their mistakes disqualified them forever. Yet time and time again, I saw the transforming power of Christ’s forgiveness. People stood taller. They served with joy. They prayed with confidence. They lived with hope.

The same has been true for me. Forgiveness has changed my posture toward God and my confidence in His calling. It frees me from fear and strengthens my desire to follow Him wholeheartedly.

I love Jesus because His forgiveness transforms from the inside out.

5️ I love Jesus because His forgiveness leads me into compassion.

Those who have received forgiveness become more gracious. Jesus taught that the one who is forgiven much loves much.

Forgiveness softens the heart.

• It turns pride into humility.
• It turns judgement into patience.
• It turns anger into grace.
• It turns bitterness into understanding.

In my leadership journey, I have witnessed how forgiveness strengthens relationships and builds healthier communities. People who forgive welcome others. People who forgive build unity. People who forgive reflect the heart of Jesus.

I love Jesus because His forgiveness helps me offer grace to others.

🎵 My Worship Response
Today’s hymn is “Jesus Paid It All.”
“Sin had left a crimson stain, He washed it white as snow.”
This is the testimony of every believer.
Forgiven, cleansed, restored, renewed.

Alongside this hymn, “Who You Say I Am” reminds me that forgiveness brings new identity. I am no longer defined by my failures. I am who God says I am.
Loved, chosen, forgiven, free.

And echoing these truths, “Nothing But the Blood” anchors my heart again in the only reason forgiveness is possible.
“What can wash away my sin?”
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

🙏 Lord Jesus, thank You for forgiving all my sins. Heal what is wounded. Restore what is broken. Lift every burden of guilt. Let Your grace fill my heart and overflow to others.

Reason # 11 Why I Love Jesus

He forgives my sin, completely, personally, sacrificially, redemptively, and compassionately.
