# 29: His Name Is Above Every Name

Reading & Reflection

📖 “Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow…and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord.” Philippians 2:9-11

Names carry meaning, authority, identity, and purpose. Scripture consistently reveals that the name of Jesus is unmatched. It stands above every earthly name and every spiritual power. His name is praised in heaven, feared in hell, and cherished by believers across the world.

The manger shows His humility. The cross shows His sacrifice. The resurrection shows His victory. His exalted name declares His supremacy.

This is why I love Jesus.
❤️ His name is above every name.

1️ I love Jesus because His name reveals His true identity.

Names in Scripture are not random. They reveal character and calling. In Philippians 2, Jesus is exalted because of who He is and what He has done. The name of Jesus, meaning “The Lord saves,” announces His mission. Immanuel, “God with us,” announces His presence. Christ, “the Anointed One,” announces His authority.

C. S. Lewis once observed that when you encounter Jesus, you cannot respond with mild admiration. You must decide that He is either Lord, liar, or lunatic. Scripture leaves no doubt. His name is Lord.

I love Jesus because His name reveals who He truly is.

2️ I love Jesus because His name carries unmatched authority.

Paul declares that God exalted Jesus to the highest place. His authority is not earned through human achievement. It is given by God Himself. Every knee bows not by force, but because truth prevails. Christ is Lord. His authority extends over creation, nations, leaders, seasons, history, and my own life.

The authority of Jesus brings clarity and steadiness because His lordship orders every other authority.

As Tozer wrote, the most important fact about any person is what they believe about God. I try to let my view of Jesus shape every decision I make.

I love Jesus because His authority gives meaning and direction to my life.

3️ I love Jesus because His name brings salvation and transformation.

Acts 4:12 reminds us that salvation is found in no other name. The name of Jesus opens the door to forgiveness, adoption, and new life. It also transforms the heart, reshapes identity, and renews desire.

When Christ found me as a teenager, I did not yet grasp the weight of His name. Over time, I have learned that His name is not merely spoken, it is lived. It awakens faith, restores what is broken, and calls forth purpose.

His name has steadied me in prayer, sustained me under pressure, and renewed joy when strength was thin.

4️ I love Jesus because His name brings victory in every battle.

Philippians describes Jesus not only as exalted but victorious. His name stands above every opposing force: sin, death, darkness, fear, and despair. Victory belongs to Him.

Hebrews speaks of Jesus as the pioneer and perfecter of faith. His name guarantees that no battle I face is fought alone and no challenge I encounter is beyond His reach. His victory becomes my confidence.

I love Jesus because His name secures every victory I need.

5️ I love Jesus because His name will be confessed by all creation.

Paul declares that every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. John Stott reminds us that Christ’s lordship is not optional or private, it is universal and decisive. Every act of worship, every testimony, every answered prayer is evidence that His name is already being lifted around the world.

The name of Jesus is global. It is spoken in whispers in persecuted places, sung loudly in worship gatherings, and carried by believers into boardrooms, classrooms, homes, and streets. One day, all creation will join this confession. Until then, I gladly bow my knee and confess His lordship now.

I love Jesus because His name is worthy of universal worship.

🎵 My Worship Response
