📖“But thanks be to God. He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 15:57
Death is the greatest enemy humanity has ever faced. It is final, unavoidable, universal, and deeply painful. It tears families apart and ends earthly chapters abruptly. Yet the Christian faith stands on a truth so powerful that it transforms our understanding of death entirely. Jesus Christ has conquered it.
This is why I love Jesus.
❤️ He gives me victory over death.
1️⃣ I love Jesus because His resurrection secures my future.
Paul declares,
“If Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith.” (1 Corinthians 15:14)
Everything in Christian faith hinges on the resurrection. Without it, hope is an illusion. With it, hope is a certainty.
Jesus did not merely escape death. He defeated it. He walked out of the tomb in victory, breaking its power once and for all. Because He lives, I know that death is not the end. It is a doorway. It is a transition into eternity with God.
This truth has comforted me in seasons of loss. When loved ones have gone ahead, when grief has been real, when death has felt close, the resurrection gave me strength. Christ lives. Therefore, we shall live also.
I love Jesus because His resurrection guarantees my eternal future.
2️⃣ I love Jesus because He removes the fear of death.
Death often creates fear. Fear of the unknown. Fear of separation. Fear of losing control. Fear of leaving unfinished work. But Jesus transforms fear into confidence.
The author of Hebrews writes,
“He freed those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death.” (Hebrews 2:15)
Christ breaks the fear that death creates. He shows us that beyond the grave is life, joy, peace, and His presence. The fear that once held humanity captive loses its power in the light of the empty tomb.
C. S. Lewis writes in Mere Christianity that Christ did not come merely to teach moral improvement, but to defeat the final enemy and make real life possible beyond death. Death, in Lewis’s words, is not the end of the story but the doorway through which true life begins. Because Jesus has gone through death and emerged victorious, death is stripped of its ultimate power. It remains painful, but it is no longer final, no longer sovereign, and no longer to be feared by those who belong to Him.
I love Jesus because His victory removes the fear that death brings.
3️⃣ I love Jesus because He transforms how I view suffering.
Suffering often raises questions about pain, purpose, and God’s presence. Yet the resurrection gives suffering a new lens. Paul writes in Romans 8:18,
“Our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.”
Suffering is temporary. Glory is eternal.
Pain lasts for a moment. Joy lasts forever.
The New Testament presents the resurrection not simply as a comforting conclusion, but as the beginning of God’s new work in the world. Because Christ is risen, suffering is no longer meaningless endurance. It becomes part of a larger story that is moving toward renewal, restoration, and life. The certainty of resurrection does not remove pain, but it gives courage to endure it, knowing that God is already at work beyond what we can see.
I love Jesus because His victory over death gives meaning and hope in times of suffering.
4️⃣ I love Jesus because His victory gives strength for daily living.
Resurrection power is not only for the last day. It is for today.
Paul writes,
“The Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you.” (Romans 8:11)
This means the power that raised Christ from the grave empowers me now. It gives me strength in weakness, courage in trials, perseverance in pressure, and joy in difficulty.
In lived experience, resurrection strength rarely arrives as a sudden surge. More often, it is the quiet ability to remain faithful when energy is low, to continue acting wisely when outcomes are uncertain, and to endure without hardening the heart. The power of the risen Christ is revealed not in dramatic escape from difficulty, but in sustained obedience, steady courage, and the grace to keep going when circumstances do not change.
I love Jesus because His resurrection power strengthens me for every season.
5️⃣ I love Jesus because His victory gives purpose to my calling.
If Christ has conquered death, then everything done in His name carries eternal significance. Paul concludes the great resurrection chapter with this assurance,
“Give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.” (1 Corinthians 15:58)
Because the resurrection is true, faithfulness matters even when results are unseen. God measures work not by speed, scale, or recognition, but by obedience and trust. Resurrection gives lasting meaning to ordinary, hidden, and costly acts of service.
I love Jesus because His victory fills my calling with purpose.
🎵 My Worship Response
Today’s reflective worship begins with the hymn “Christ the Lord Is Risen Today.” Its triumphant proclamation anchors my faith in the historic and decisive victory of Christ over death.
This is followed by “Resurrecting” by Elevation Worship, which gives voice to the lived reality of that victory. “By Your Spirit I will rise from the ashes of defeat” reminds me that resurrection power is not only promised for the future, but experienced in the present.
Another worship expression is “Alagbada Ina” by Nathaniel Bassey, a declaration of the majesty, authority, and unstoppable power of the risen Lord, clothed in glory and reigning forever.
🙏 Lord Jesus, thank You for conquering death and giving me victory. Strengthen my faith. Fill me with resurrection hope. Help me live daily with confidence, courage, and purpose.
