📖“He heals the broken-hearted and binds up their wounds.” Psalm 147:3
Every human life includes moments of deep hurt. Disappointment, betrayal, grief, loss, and shattered hopes are part of the human story. We all know what it feels like to carry wounds that are not visible on the outside. The world offers many ways of numbing pain, but true healing comes from only one place.
This is why I love Jesus.
❤️ He heals my broken heart.
1️⃣ I love Jesus because He meets me at the point of my pain.
Psalm 147 does not say He observes the broken-hearted. It says He heals them. Jesus does not stand at a distance. He draws near. He steps into our sorrow. He welcomes our tears.
In the Gospels, Jesus consistently moved toward hurting people.
He listened to the cry of the blind man.
He paused for the woman with the issue of blood.
He wept with Mary and Martha.
He comforted His disciples when their hearts were troubled.
Philip Yancey notes that “Grace means there is nothing we can do to make God love us more or less.” This includes our seasons of pain. Jesus does not ask us to be strong before coming to Him. He meets us as we are.
There have been moments in my own journey when I carried concern, fear, or emotional exhaustion, especially during demanding seasons of leadership or unexpected family burdens. In those moments, Christ’s nearness was not theoretical. It was real, steady, and healing.
I love Jesus because He meets me at the exact place where my heart hurts.
2️⃣ I love Jesus because He heals what others cannot see.
Some wounds are visible. Many are not.
Grief. Disappointment. Betrayal. Burnout. Anxiety. Private fears. Personal loss.
These are the wounds that words cannot fully express. Yet Jesus sees them clearly. He understands them completely. He touches them gently.
David says,
“The Lord is close to the broken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” (Psalm 34:18)
Healing does not always come quickly. Sometimes God heals gradually as we walk with Him through prayer, Scripture, worship, and community. Other times healing comes in a moment, when peace floods the heart in a way that cannot be explained.
Throughout my life, I have seen the Lord mend emotional fractures I once thought permanent. He restored confidence where it had been shaken. He renewed joy where it had faded. He brought clarity where confusion had taken root.
I love Jesus because He heals wounds that no one else even knows are there.
3️⃣ I love Jesus because He restores my soul.
Healing is more than pain removal. It is soul restoration.
Psalm 23 says, “He restores my soul.” Restoration is deeper than repair. It means bringing the heart back to life. It means giving strength where weakness once lived. It means reigniting purpose where discouragement once dominated.
There have been times when I have experienced moments when expectations were high, responsibilities intense, and emotional fatigue real. In such seasons, Jesus restored my soul at the deepest level. His healing was not only emotional comfort. It was spiritual renewal.
Restored faith.
Restored clarity.
Restored purpose.
Restored joy.
Healing is not only what He does. It is who He is.
I love Jesus because He does not simply mend. He restores.
4️⃣ I love Jesus because His healing leads me to forgive.
Brennan Manning in the The Ragamuffin Gospel tells of a priest who carried deep resentment after betrayal by a close friend. Though still faithful, his heart had grown guarded. Only when he allowed Christ to meet him in that wound did bitterness begin to loosen its grip. Healing did not erase the memory, but it softened the heart and restored mercy.
When I look back, some of my deepest growth has come from moments when Christ invited me to forgive. Not because the pain was small, but because His grace was great. Forgiveness frees the heart to heal.
Healing and forgiveness go hand in hand:
• Healing softens the heart.
• Healing removes bitterness.
• Healing opens the way to reconciliation.
• Healing breaks cycles of pain.
• Healing allows us to bless those who hurt us.
I love Jesus because His healing helps me forgive and move forward.
5️⃣ I love Jesus because His healing gives me strength to help others.
A healed heart becomes a channel of healing.
Paul writes, “God comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we have received.”
The comfort Jesus has given me through seasons of loss, pressure, uncertainty, and personal strain has enabled me to support others with genuine empathy. Leaders, students, colleagues, family members, and younger believers. I could walk with them because Christ had first walked with me.
He often uses our healed wounds as testimonies of His compassion and power. Through our stories, others find reassurance that Christ can heal them too.
I love Jesus because His healing turns my pain into purpose.
🎵 My Worship Response
Today’s worship song is “Healer” by Hillsong.
“You hold my every moment, You calm my raging seas.”
This song is a confession that Christ is the One who heals every part of our lives, from the emotional to the spiritual.
A second worship expression is “You Never Let Go” by Matt Redman. It reminds me that even in the valley of brokenness, God holds us firmly and faithfully.
Alongside these, the hymn “Nearer, Still Nearer” draws my heart toward surrendered trust. As healing takes place, I am invited not only to be restored, but to come closer, yielding every wound into His care.
🙏 Lord Jesus, thank You for healing my broken heart. Bind every wound, restore every place of pain, and fill my life with Your peace and renewal. Use my story to encourage others who are walking through difficult seasons.
